Which template should you use?
The right template depends on two things: where you are applying and how the company screens resumes. If a job posting asks you to apply through an online portal, that portal almost certainly uses an applicant tracking system (ATS) that reads your resume as plain text. In that case, pick a clean, single-column template such as Meridian or Compact. They avoid the columns, tables and graphics that confuse parsers.
If a recruiter will read your resume directly — at a startup, a creative studio, or through a personal referral — you have more freedom.
